MIND INFRASTRUCTURE

infrastructure of mind jaydhar chowdhary jaydharphics
It is a ever changing world and all the phases of life experiences changes. Whether you like it or not change is eminent,from ages people have tried for changing.
     Don't bother about the key behind these changes.  Just sink yourself with the change.
When elder people in our locality used to curse the new generation for the changes they witnessed.  I used to think how rude they are.  I used to feel that they are jealous of us, just because they didn't experienced those things or they never got that opportunity.  But now when I see younger lads (you must be thinking how old am i, i m not very old well forget that) at some circumstances even I feel jealous of them may be
the same reason lack of opportunity  etc.  But instead of cursing them the one thing which we can do is, we can sink with the new generation.
     Each and every human being got a different set of mind and thinking, but their infrastructure can be generalised.  For example, boys/men dont discuss their day out with their parents the way girls do.  After all i m also a guy i know this, if you dont agree with this then you are lieing to yourself.  Ok you may be exceptional but its something general what I am discussing.    Older people got their own infrastructure, many of them dont want to change themselves with the change.  I still remember those days When computers were introduced in government offices, many employees countered its implementation.  There was a lot of combat between the administration and the employees.  This is something obvious human nature. Let me tell you an incidence, I made a tatto on my hand my parents shouted on me, I explained them why I did it because I dont want to be jealous of my next generation when they will have tattoo on each arm.  Well thanks to lord they were convinced with my explanation, actually they were not convinced they were not left with any choice.  Well change is eminent and opposition is free package which comes with it.  Its not just older people, in few contexts even we oppose few changes, don't we?  Even we should try all the things which they are trying.
     Somewhere  I heard the answer for this question,  WHY INDIA IS EMERGING AS A BIG POWER?   The answer was something like this: Coz we like to try new things. and that is what they call MIND INFRASTRUCTURE.  The infrastructure which is the most important part for any business, is not just the building, AC, computers, routers etc. which makes a business successful, it is the human brain working with and within those materialistic infrastructure.  To sink with the change we have to update ourselves .  And to update ourselves, what else other than INTERNET.  Yes books are not enough Internet is a better medium to updater yourself.   Han! when we think of information on the internet the first thing come to our mind is GOOGLE, but there are many other websites which we can refer like SLASHDOT.org,  DELICIOUS.com  etc.  Google is something which help us to find what we need to know.  On the otherside these Slashdot, delicious etc. are few sites where if you visit you will come through new topics, which will make you know about new things. Only thing you have to do is, you have to select your stream of interest.
     Ok I think that is enough right.  Just try every new thing, and you will never feel jealous of people doing those things.  My wishes are always with you!!

Watermark in just 4 easy steps!

we all love to upload pictures on the web.  And equally we love our pictures not to be stolen by others.  Copying pictures from the web is not a big task with all these modern browsers and all.  But we can at least take few measures to save our images,  at least we can make ourselves happy that we tried.
  In just 4 steps you can make yourself happy that you did your job.  I have used Adobe Photoshop CS5 to make a watermark on the image.
Following are the steps
1. Write the text which you want as watermark on the image then
Go to Filter---> Stylize---> Emboss
Set properties of the Emboss as:
Angle:135
height:3px
Amont:100%

2.  Click on Lock tranparent pixels in layers pallete

3. Go to Filter---> Blur---> Gaussian Blur
Set properties as:
Radius:3.0px

4. Change the blend mode from Normal to Hard light and finally adjust your opacity thats it your done.

Now you will have a nice watermark on your image.   Just 4 steps can save your images.

SEO Rules For Designers

SEO! SEO! SEO!, I started web designing and this SEO was always there with an eye over me.  Search Engine Optimization, a very important combination of characters for web designers and web developers.  Every Client want their website's link to be shown in the first page of Google.  So it becomes obvious for we designers and developers to take care of this, and SEO is the only way possible.  SEO's has two aspects ON-SITE and OFF-SITE.
  On-site SEO includes those things which we can do in our site such as HTML markups, target keywords, internal linking, site structure etc. etc.
  Second is Off-Site SEO which includes those things on which we dont have much control, like how many people will link to yor website.
     Among these two aspects the first one i.e.,On-site SEO is where we can concentrate.  There are few things which a designer should take care of while designing a website.  These are things which I practice to optimize.

1. Content is the main food for Web Spiders/Crawlers.  and their main target is Home page of any website. So, your design of a home page should be good looking but it should contain lots of relevant content.

2. Using big flash banner on the home page and giving a link "Click To Enter The Site" will lead you nowhere.  Web crawlers are like a text-based browser, they can't read the text embedded in the graphic image or Flash.  If you are using important keywords of the site in Flash and Image then its useless.

3. Using navigation made up of Flash is useless, they may look attractive but the links in the Flash menu are not followed by the Search Engines. So, Its better to make navigation with normal texts in anchor tags.

4. If you want to make your navigation look better and want to use images written in a stylish font, then you should keep few things in practice like giving a "title" attribute e.g. for 'About Us' menu item <img> tag's alt and title attribute should be populated with proper key words.
     Search Engine's can't see images so your alt attribute will help the Search Engine in illustrating what your page is relevant for.  The 'alt' attribute of every image used in the website should be defined properly with relevant keywords.

5. Relevant keywords used should be in context of your website's target words. such as if you are using "Cars and Fishes" are they relevant? ....not at all!      Han! if you are using Boats and Fishes its Ok, they are relevant.

     These keywords, meta tags things should be looked after by the developer, its their responsibility to use proper relevant keywords, with less repetition.  Let's concentrate over the  practices which a designer should follow.

6. <H1> tags play  a very important role in SEO.  The title of the content should be used within <H1>. Search Engines concentrate on the <H> tags used in the web page.  Too much use of <H> tag will push your webpage to spam.

7. Too much use of keywords is harmful for your webpage.  Main areas where one should use keywords:
------the Title Tag
------the Page URL
------<H1> or <H2>
------first paragraph of content
------atleast 3 times in the body content
2% of keyword density is enough for SEO, that means 2 times for every 100 words.

8. Learn More and Click Here links anchor text can be very useful for SEO but it should be appended with few keywords like "Learn more about (keyword topic)".

9.  And a very important thing which we are using alot these days is Ajax, excess use of Ajax is not useful for SEO.  Coz, Ajax loads content dynamically, so its not possible for Search Engines to crawl through those content.

10. Title tag used for each page should be different and should be relevant to the respective page.  Page title is what appears in search results.  If you are using "www.sitename.com: About Us" again for another page you are using "www.sitename.com: Our Services", then its a wrong method.  If you really want to repeat your site name in every page title then you should use it this way "our Services:www.sitename.com". Page title and description should not exceed 60 characters in total.

      These are few things which we should keep in mind while designing a website.  One thing I suggest that just design your website for human use, the machine crawler will find your site itself.  Just make it easy to use.

How to make a lightbox, with overlay for entire page(not just viewport)?

Click and wait for another page to open for the data to display, this is no more a trend, now in every
website we find light boxes.  Light Boxes are the small boxes or we can say windows which appears in the middle of the screen with the data and all, and there is a transparent overlay just below it covering rest of the page.  We get plugins for these lightboxes, but when I tried it myself with simple javascript and CSS, was unable to get a perfect one.  But now I got something perfect the following code is perfect for the light box, with the simplest and minimum code we can create such lightboxes.
     Following is the html code:

<div class="container">
<input type="button" onclick="showOverlay()" value="Click Here For LightBox"/>
</div>
<div id="overlay"></div>
<div id="lightBox"><h1>Jaydharphics</h1>
<input type="button" onclick="hideOverlay()" value="Close This"/>
</div>

Description:
  Overlay DIv and lightBox Div are the two DIVs we require for the lightBox.  As the name suggests overlay is the one covering the entire page and the lightBox Div is the one popping up with the data.  The container DIV is the normal page. In that page I have created a button "Click Here for LightBox" this button will trigger the display of the light box  and there is another button in the light box which will unhide the lightbox.
Following is the javascript for the above actions:

<script type="text/javascript">
function showOverlay() {
document.getElementById('overlay').style.display='block';
document.getElementById('lightBox').style.display='block';
}

function hideOverlay() {
document.getElementById('overlay').style.display='none';
document.getElementById('lightBox').style.display='none';
}
</script>

The CSS of the overlay DIV and the lightBox Div was the biggest issue for the perfection of this lightBox.  Making a DIV hide and unhide was easy but positoning of the overlay and lightbox DIVs is pretty important.  Few things are very important for a lightbox, the lightbox should be in the middle of the page, no matter what is the size of the screen, it should be at the centre.  For that reason the following CSS is very important and perfect.

<style>
#overlay{height:100%; width:100%; position:fixed; background:#545454; opacity:0.5; top:0px; left:0px; display:none;}
#lightBox{position:fixed; top:50%; left:50%; width:400px; height:200px; margin-left:-200px; margin-top:-100px; border:4px solid #e4e4e4;  background:#fff; display:none;}
</style>

A very important thing in this CSS of lightBox are the width, height, margin-left and margin-top properties.  margin-left value(-200px) should be half of the value(400px) of width and margin-top value(-100px) should be half of the value(200px) of the height, and the values of margin-top and margin-left should be in negative.
This will make your light box display in the centre of the screen.

Next is the CSS of the overlay DIV:
#overlay{height:100%; width:100%; position:fixed; background:#545454; opacity:0.5; top:0px; left:0px; display:none;}

Most of us definately have problem with this overlay. The CSS I used earlier was used to cover the viewport only, not the entire page.  But a simple change in the CSS fixed my problem. yes! fixed is the word which fixed my problem.  Most of us use position:absolute; for this, but position:fixed; is the solution.  This will cover your entire page and rest of the CSS I think is not tangent for you!
  Thank You Friend!

Godavari Launch Journey towards Bhadrachalam

Finally! I did it, always wanted to go Bhadrachalam on launch.  Never dared to plan the trip, but thanks to my cousin it was his engagement which made my trip possible.  I think launch journey on River Godavari from Rajahmundry to Bhadrachalam is one of the best tourist attraction in Andhra Pradesh state of India.  The journey was through various temples and hill stations.  The beautiful greenery surrounding the river Godavari is just superrrrr.
   There are many travel agencies in Rajahmundry at the bank of Godavari, where you can book your tickets for the journey.  There are many different packages for this journey like same day returning trip, 2days and 1 night trip, 3days  and 2 night trip etc. etc. "more sugar more sweetness" I think you got me.  As we were not having enough time we decided for one day trip.  They also have a special package for those who don't want to return to Rajahmundry and continue the journey to Bhadrachalam.   Han! "Bhadrachalam" yes  let me tell you something about this,  its 400 years old temple made by a local Tahsildar  called Gopanna popularly known as Bhakta Ramadasa.  There is a huge history behind this temple for more information on Bhadrachalam and Ramdasa watch telugu movie Sri Ramdasa or Google it! APTDC launches are also available for this journey but APTDC launches are available on Fridays only.  So, its better to go for travel agencies.
     We boarded on a bus provided by the travel agent at Rajahmundry at travel agents office which took us to a stop called Pattiseema.  Its around 35Kms from Rajahmundry to Pattiseema.  Many Launches were harboured in the river.  Each Travel agents have their own Launches.  In Pattiseema itself  there is a temple, but the tour package doesn't include the visit of this temple. so if your are a real Bhakta (devotee) you have to arrange your own trip for visiting all temples in Rajahmundry.  Its just impossible to visit all the temples coz there were so many.
   Following is the Pattiseema temple. Its a small temple located on top of a small hill.  The temple is for god Sri Uma Maha Nandiswara swamy (short me bole to Shiv Bhagwan).  There is some information like there was an under ground way to reach kashi from this temple. This temple was constructed during 12th century.  Thanks to the guide of our launch he gave all this information so if you find this wrong its that guide who is responsible not me OK.  Breakfast will be served here so no need to worry about your belly.

The second stop was at Gonduru, temple of Goddess Gandi Pochamma.  It was a small village with a beautiful entrance you can see the following images of the Gonduru.  Entrance ticket is to be taken for INR 2 and for special darshan (only on sunday and Tuesday) INR 5.  For special pujas you can pay additional amount.

The next stop was at a check post before entering into Papikondalu (Papi Hills) area. This one is for a very short duration tourists are not allowed to board off,  the launch manager have to report number of persons travelling on the boat at the check post.  The place is Devipatnam,  this is the place where an Indian revolutionary Alluru Sita Ram Raju, looted a police station and killed 20 British Policemen.  You can see that police station from the launch only.  Following is that police station.

 Then the journey was through the Papi Hills which was very beautiful.  The journey was through thick forest surrounded by hills at both the sides.  This part of the journey was quiet longer.  Lunch was served before reaching the next stop Peranta Palli.  While cruising through Papi Hills you will come across a small village at East side of the Godavari River.  Its Kolluru Bamboo Huts, There is small colony kind of thing at the bank of river.  If you want to stay there there are other packages which you can go for.  There is no electricity in that village solar power is used for lighting and all.  Food will be arranged by the travel agent you can spend your night and have a nice camp fire, next morning launch will come to take you forward.

The next stop was at Peranta Palli.  Sri Ramkrishna Hermitage is the major attraction at Peranta Palli.  There is a small water fall in front of the hermitage flowing from hills.  The water was very chilled there, we got lot of relief taking a dip in that water.  Worshipping any other god near the Hermitage is not allowed,  no offerings are allowed in that temple.  If you want to offer something to those villagers you can buy books and variety of handicrafts made up of bamboo made by local villagers.  The Hermitage was started by Sri Swamy Balananda.

 After Peranta Palli there will not be any more stops.  Those who want to go Bhadrachalam have to change their launch.  There was a separate launch standing for us at Peranta Palli.  This launch will drop you at a stop at east godavari.  We reached that unknown stop where vehicles were parked to take us to Bhadrachalam.  Those vechiles were also arranged by the travel agent, they will take you near Bhadrachalam temple.  There are many dharamshalas and hotels in Bhadrachalam, but there is a
hotel nearest to the temple called "OM SHANTI GUEST HOUSE".  The rates are comparable so its better to book there.  There is another dharam shala near temple, its "TANISHA DHARAM SHALA/ KALYAN MANDAPAM", you can try that also.  There is another spot near Bhadrachalam "Parnashala', its around 40 Kms from Bhadrachalam, one must go there.  Bhadrachalam pics-

We had a tough time returning to Rajahmundry from Bhadrachalam.  Because of that Telangana issues buses were on strike, so we had to travel around 100 Kms on auto rickshaw from Bhadrachalam to Arsarao Peta.  From Arsarao Peta APSRTC bus services were available.  Ultimately we had a nice trip.  Thank you for sparing your precious time.  Good Bye!!

My First Animation

Today I am sharing my first animation, This must be the slowest animation ever made on the earth. Well I made this animation using Macromedia flash MX, Each and every scene and the characters are made using the mouse.  It took me a long time to make every movement of the characters GOLDI and the stranger doing his morning exercise.  For each hand and leg movements I drew with mouse.  Definately this is not the way animations are made, there are better alternatives, otherwise for a single episode of Tom & Jerry, the animators would take years to complete.
If I come through some easy and better alternatives I am definately going to share, until just watch the video.

z-index problem with flash movie in Google Chrome

Google Chrome another browser in the family of Internet Explorer creating problems for web designers.  I cam through this problem in a project where my requirement was to run a flash movie in background and the menu/navigation is to be placed over it.
     For such kind of problem z-index and position:absolute is enough to solve them.  I did the same but when cross browser testing was done in Google Chrome the menu/navigation was not over the flash movie, the flash movie was coming all over the navigation.  I re-checked the CSS properties but it wasn't a problem.  To solve this you have to make little change in the embed tag properties of your <object> <embed> tag.

Just make the wmode=transparent and you are done.
      It was done with chrome, but I havent got solution for IE.  For IE I have to write a little coding, just checked the browser if its IE then use Image instead of the movie.  I know I know you must be saying this is not a solution, but I was unable to figure out.  If any one get solution for this problem in IE please share.

How to vertical align an image in middle?

Many of us might have faced this problem of aligning an image in middle of a div.  I don't know about others but I used to use Padding-top in these situations.  But then if images are of different sizes i.e., of different heights then this padding-top doesn't seems to be the solution.  Then this css solved my problem. Normally these are situations when you are listing products and each of your image is of different size and you want them to be middle aligned in their respective DIV's.  Here's the HTML for the DIV where you have to place the image:

<div class="wraptocenter"><span></span><img src="banner_2.gif" alt="jaydharphics"></div>

And here's the CSS:

<style type="text/css">
.wraptocenter {
    display: table-cell;
    text-align: center;
    vertical-align: middle;
    height:200px;
    width:300px; border:10px solid #e4e4e4;
}
.wraptocenter * {
    vertical-align: middle;
}
/*******************************/
.wraptocenter {
    display: block;
}
.wraptocenter span {
    display: inline-block;
    height: 100%;
    width: 1px;
}
/******************************/
</style>
<!--[if lt IE 8]><style>
.wraptocenter span {
    display: inline-block;
    height: 100%;
}
</style><![endif]-->

I hope this was helpful to you. I hope Horizontal alignment is not a issue for you, if you still have problem with horizontal alignment then there are two usual methods one is "text-align:center;" and another is you can use margin:0 auto; for the image.

Serif and Sans-Serif

Every now and then we use these serif and non-serif texts, but never went in detail.  Today while returning from office this serif and non-serif doubt came into my mind.  So, I am sharing upto whatever extent I learnt about this serif and non-serif and I would also like to share my experience about the use of these serif and non-serif typefaces in designing.
     Serif and Sans-serif are typefaces. Serifs are semi-structural details on the ends of some of the strokes that make up letters and symbols (thanks to wiki) while Sans-Serif are typefaces without serifs.  In French Sans means "without".  There
are some fonts which are available in both typefaces i.e., serif and sans-serif while few fonts are available in only serif or in only sans-serif.  Like Gothic fonts are available in sans-serif only and roman fonts are available in serif only.

The following images will clear you the difference about these typefaces.

Sans-serif font:
Serif Font:

Serif font, with the red part showing the serifs, if you remove those serifs its a normal sans-serif font.
 As per my experience in body text of a webpage one must use Sans-Serif fonts its more discerning than Serif fonts.  Serif fonts are more clearly visible if they are used in big font sizes.  So in body text of a web page one must try Arial, Tahoma, Verdana etc.  Han! you can use those serif fonts in heading tags.  And when it comes to Logo designing, these Serif  fonts are just awesome.  They look very beautiful. But you should never try a serif font for captions for the logo, reason is those captions will be used everywhere in small sizes and serif fonts in small sizes are not discerning.  Well it was my opinion, you can't help yourself if you client want a serif font in caption, just leave him after all he/she is your client.  Their requirement is your action. Ok friends! that was enough on this topic at least I am clear about this serif and sans-serif hope you are too!!

Logo Ideas for EDPL

Hi! friends I am back again with some more logo design ideas.  This time it was all about Text Twisting.  I made five logos for this organisation Eastern Datatech Private Ltd.  Lot of text twisting but finally the one client likes is a simple text.  I tried to work a lot with the characters D and P, you can see them in those designs below.  Check the ideas I came up with.

Safety Class!!

Today I attended a safety class in our workshop.  It wasn't that bad. We all know those things but still I thought I should share this with you people.  As per administration's analysis 88% of the accidents in industries are because of improper practice of work, 10%  of the accidents are because of improper conditions and 2% are because of Over confidence, fatigueness, lazziness etc. etc.
      I asked the person who was taking our class,"isn't that 10% factor is responsible for those 88% accidents?" that's it he was like "BOMB", he threw a typical look on me and said 16 out of 19 accidents in workshop this year were because of improper practice of work.  I realised that its just unprofitable to debate here and kept my mouth shut for rest of the class.
   But its true those 10% improper conditions are responsible for 88% of unfair and improper work practice.  The conditions we work in are just out of this world.  But administration will never agree with this, ofcourse the analysis is also made by them, but those analysis are just figures for them and for us as well.  88% is not small figure to ignore.  We are also responsible, aren't we?

CSS min-width not working

Have you ever face this problem, CSS min-width not working.  Many of you may know this but this one's for those who don't.  Well, today I had a requirement of a div which should increase in width depending on the content in it.  The images are to placed inside that div sided by side.

       I thought min-width property will be enough, but it wasn't working.  So as usual switch to Google, but the results I found wasn't the solution for my requirement.  After a bit of CSS storming I came up with this solution.  If we use display:inline-table; to the div to which we want to assign min-width, it will work.

div{
 display : inline-table;
min-width : 200px;
}

How to wrap text around a div in all three sides of a div?

Today I got a requirement of wrapping text all around a div actually not all around, around three sides i.e., top left and bottom, like the following image.

Simple CSS solved my problem, this same thing can also be used for wrapping images with text all around it.

Try this code and run :

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style>
div.topSpacerDiv {
    width: 0px;
    height: 60px;
    float: left;

}

div.DIV {
    float: right;
    clear: both;
    border:1px solid red;
    height:100px; width:200px;
}
</style>
</head>

<body>
<div class="container">

In the above code the class topSpacerDiv is most important, the small div i.e., DIv position depends on the height of the topSpacerDiv.
If you want the small div DIV in left position you have to just change the float:right; to float:left; in the CSS of DIv class.

Why dont you copy paste this code and run and try to play with the CSS, you will be clear.

Dashed or Dotted line in Photoshop

What will you do if you are asked to draw a dashed or dotted line in photoshop?

If you know the answer then its ok otherwise here's what I learnt.
   I used to copy paste a rectangle shape again and again to draw a simple dashed line or a circle shape for a dotted line.  But then I got the solution.May be many of you know this but this one's for those who doesn't.

Simply Select a brush tool
Then Select the size of the brush as per your need.
If you need a dotted line, use a round brush, if you need a dashed line, you have to load the Square Brushes library.
      To load the Square Brushes library, click on the brush size icon in the options bar, then click on the fly-out menu (that arrow icon as shown in the image) and select Square Brushes.

Then access the Brushes palette, click on the 'Brush Tip Shape'.  This will display all the settings, there you can change the Spacing setting to a high value (200 or more).  You will see the preview right there at the bottom of Brushes Palette. The Brush Palette will look like this:

Now you are done with the settings  you can a draw a dashed line, Hold on the SHIFT key and draw the line,  Shift key ensures a straight line.  I used this dashed line for one of many banners I designed.  You should try this.

Social Media Plugins (SoMePlugs) Logo Designs

Logo Ideas for Social Media Plugins aka SoMe PlugsWhat is the first thing comes to your mind when you think of the words SOCIAL MEDIA.  Let me guess, it would be Orkut, Facebook, Twitter etc.  right!!.  Its ok but those are just social networking sites or we can say medium which is used for social interaction.  Do you really want to know what is Social Media: "It is a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, which allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content."  (thanks to wiki).  I am not going to give a lesson on what is Social Media,  this is just what I learnt while making a logo related to Social Media.  I always google a bit before making a logo to get some ideas.  This helps me to get related keywords and using those related keywords I try to design the logo.
     This time all I found was some human structures holding hands or in groups etc or the icons of all those social networking sites.
    When the word social or society is used its very obvious to think of human structures, for logos han! I am
discussing aboaut the logo designs.  And we think of the word media either we go with the cameras or film rolls etc. Even I tried few of them for this Social Media Plugins (SoMeplugs) logo.  But those were very ordinary.  Then while brainstorming for this logo me and my boss Vineet he came up with an idea of people talking or discussing something like that,  first of all I thought how can I represent people talking in a logo.  But gradually and finally I came up with the final one. Actually in comics when people talk these shapes are used,  and I like them very much I am very happy to use them in one of my designs.  Well once again I am satisfied with what I made.  Lets see what comes next...

      One thing I learnt is to make a logo you have to brainstorm  a lot and try to discuss with others like how they are going to represent those keywords which you want in as logo.

Notice the shape of our country

Log on to google.com click on the images link and type india map vector in the search box....

For one of my graphics work I needed a map of India.  So as usual I googled it and the result I found was shocking for me.  The shape of our country wasn't the same.  The shape I like most nost just because its my country's because it forms a nice human shape.  Few of you definitely feel the way I do.  The J&K like head,  Gujarat and North east states like arms and the elongated coastal south india forms legs.  And above all the heart i.e, dil our capital Dilli (Delhi) being right at the position of heart.
         But yesterday when I saw the shape of India on web.  I was like 'oye teri ye kya hua??' (wats this?)   The head i.e., J&K wasn't in the same old shape.  You can see those pictures and understand the difference.

There can be many reasons,  I don't bother about the reason,  but the matter is we should know what is the actual shape of our country.  Is it the one I was proud of with the human shape or is it the one on the web.  We should be clear about this what you say,  at least our next generation should be clear enough about the shape and feel proud the way we do.

sometimes stranger can teach you lot

Today I met a Marketing Executive, the business he was doing was strange to me,  Actually I never knew that even the alcohols and liquors need marketing.  When he said he is doing such business, I laughed and asked him is it true.  He said yes and that moment only he got a call from some of his client.  "Han.. jolly aur OC ka 2 peti bhijwa dunga,  already 6 peti bhej chuka hun." (yes.. i will send 2 case of jolly and OC, although I have already sent 6 case.)

Listening to jolly and OC I understood yes he is right.  Then he told me many facts about his business.  He said he is in this marketing line since 8 years. He has to travel a lot.  He has worked in many bigger companies now since two years he is in Kharagpur looking after the whole Midnapore district.  He said every liquor merchant in Kharagpur knows him. He is the one who supplies them.

When he said 8 years in marketing my eyes widened, for a moment I thought why shouldnt I ask him to join my company, of course on commission basis,  coz as he said he worked for bigger companies,  then he is definately having good salary.

Then I dropped that thought and moved on with the conversation.

I asked him how do you people upgrade your products, coz as much I know liquor tastes horrible and what more one can do to imrpove the horribleness.

  He said to upgrade the product they change the label,  change the bottle shape etc.  I asked him ok you work on outlook only,  the ingredient can't be changed right.  He replied, that the taste of the liquor depends on the water used while making it.  They upgrade the taste by upgrading the distillery.

Then I asked how is the demand.  He said they are unable to fulfill the demand.  The demand is suppose 25 thousand  they are able to supply 10 thousand only.
Then he told me some more useful things abokut marketing.  He said some are moving products and some are non-moving products.  Moving products sell constantly but marketing is needed for the non-moving products.
me: How do you improve the sales?
stranger: The only mantra to improve the sales is to follow the market and follow up the clients and motivate them to buy non-moving products as well.

This was an interesting conversation I ever had, the topic was totally new to me. But learnt few tips of marketing today.
Thanks to that stranger.
